Vitreous Site
Site specific glass formula, ceramic crucible

These dissected crucibles reveal glass recipes made from sand, soda ash, and lime gathered from various local resources in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Each recipe renders slightly different results as a consequence of local minerals, the earth tones of glass, and physical vestiges of the land itself. Through the language of dissection and exploration, these sculptures begin to examine the physicality of glass as a material agent for light, color and place.
